Terms of Service
Please read these terms before using the Site. The headline: the codes you create are entirely yours, and we make no promise that any particular design will scan in your specific printing and lighting conditions.

1.Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of https://upfrog.online and every page, feature and service on it (together, the "Site"), operated by Upgfrog ("we", "us", "our").
By accessing or using the Site you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Site.
If you are using the Site on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms on that organisation's behalf.
2.Definitions
- "Site" means this website, the QR code generator on it, the written guides, and the public HTTP API.
- "Generator" means the browser-based tool that turns content you enter into a QR code image.
- "API" means the HTTP endpoint that renders QR codes programmatically.
- "Your Content" means anything you enter into the Generator or send to the API — website addresses, contact details, network credentials, payment addresses, logo images and so on.
- "Output" means a QR code image produced from Your Content.
- "You" or "User" means any person who accesses or uses the Site.
- "Third-Party Services" means services operated by others, including advertising, analytics and any site we link to.
3.Eligibility
The Site is intended for a general audience and requires no account. If you are a minor in your jurisdiction, you should use the Site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
By using the Site you confirm that you are able to form a binding contract and are not barred from doing so under any applicable law.
4.What the service is, and what it is not
The Site provides a browser-based QR code generator and a public API that renders QR codes as images. Codes produced here are static, meaning the content you enter is encoded directly into the pattern itself.
It is worth being explicit about what we do not do, because it shapes everything below:
- We do not host your files. There is no library, no storage and no upload facility.
- We do not shorten your links or redirect your scans. Nothing passes through our servers when a code is scanned.
- We do not store the content you encode. It is processed in your browser and discarded when you close the tab.
- We do not offer dynamic codes, editable destinations or scan analytics, because all three require a permanent redirect service.
- There is no account system, no subscription and no paid tier.
5.The codes you create belong to you
We claim no ownership of, and no licence over, any QR code you generate here or any content you encode into it.
Use your codes however you wish: commercially, on packaging, on products you sell, in advertising, at any scale. No attribution is required and no permission is needed. A QR code generated from your own content is not something we consider ourselves to have authored.
Because we never receive Your Content, we could not assert rights over it even if we wanted to.
6.What we own
The Site itself — its design, source code, written guides, generated artwork, diagrams and brand — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. The Upgfrog name and logo are our marks and may not be used to imply endorsement or affiliation.
You may not copy the Site wholesale, republish our written articles as your own, or present our testing results as your own work.
Quoting a short passage with attribution and a link is welcome and needs no permission.
QR Code is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED. We use the term descriptively to refer to the standard, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by DENSO WAVE.
7.Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Site or the API to:
- Encode or distribute content that is unlawful where you or your audience are located.
- Disguise a destination in order to deceive people about where a code leads, including for phishing.
- Distribute malware, fraudulent payment requests or deceptive offers.
- Impersonate another person, business or public body.
- Place automated load on the API sufficient to degrade the service for others.
- Interfere with, disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site or its infrastructure.
- Remove or obscure proprietary notices from material we provide.
You are solely responsible for what you encode and for where your codes lead. Because Your Content never reaches us, we cannot review, moderate or filter it, and we do not attempt to.
8.Your responsibility for what you encode
The Generator will encode whatever you give it. It does not verify that a destination is safe, that a payment address is correct, that a Wi-Fi password should be shared, or that personal data may lawfully be published.
Some mistakes here are unrecoverable. A mistyped cryptocurrency address encoded into a printed code cannot be corrected after printing, and funds sent to it are gone. Verify payment addresses and destinations against their source before you publish a code.
If you encode another person's contact details, you are responsible for having a lawful basis to do so.
9.Using the API
The API is free and requires no key. It is offered on a fair-use basis: keep automated request rates reasonable, cache responses where you can, and do not treat it as a general-purpose rendering farm.
Output is deterministic — identical parameters always produce an identical image — so generating once and storing the result is both faster for you and kinder to us than repeated requests for the same code.
We may rate-limit, block, change or withdraw the API at any time, including in ways that break existing integrations. If you depend on it in production, self-hosting this application is a sensible precaution and we encourage it.
10.Third-party links
Our guides link to external specifications, standards bodies and documentation for reference. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or practices.
A link is not an endorsement, and your use of any third-party site is governed by that site's own terms.
11.Advertising
The Site may carry advertising, including through Google AdSense, in order to cover its running costs and keep the Generator free and unlimited.
Where advertising is active, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Where the law requires consent, advertising is not loaded until you have given it, and for visitors in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and Switzerland we use a Google-certified consent management platform to collect it.
You can opt out of personalised advertising through Google's controls at myadcenter.google.com or the industry tools at optout.aboutads.info. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
We do not control the content of advertisements and are not responsible for the products or services they promote. Any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and that advertiser. Advertising is kept visually distinct from our writing and is never placed inside the Generator's controls.
12.Cookies and analytics
The Site uses a small amount of browser storage for your theme and consent preferences, and — where enabled and consented to — advertising and analytics services. Our Cookie Policy sets out exactly what is stored, by whom, and for how long.
You can change your consent at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page. Declining does not degrade the service: every feature of the Generator works identically either way.
13.No warranty, and specifically no guarantee that a code will scan
THE SITE AND ALL OUTPUT ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
This deserves plain language, because it is the realistic risk with a QR code generator rather than a formality.
Whether a code scans depends on a chain of things entirely outside our control: your printer and ink, the paper or substrate, lamination and gloss, ambient lighting, scanning distance and angle, the camera and age of the scanning device, and the design choices you made. Our published testing and the warnings shown in the editor are guidance drawn from measurements we ran on rendered image files. They are not a guarantee about your situation.
Always test a real sample, at final size, on the final material, in the lighting where it will be used, before committing anything to a print run. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.
14.Not professional advice
Our guides are practical engineering notes. Nothing on the Site is legal advice about what you may lawfully encode, data-protection advice about personal data you place into a contact code, financial advice about any payment code, or security advice about destinations you link to.
Where any of that matters, take advice from someone qualified in your jurisdiction.
15.Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SITE.
This expressly includes reprinting costs, wasted print runs, missed campaigns, and commercial losses arising from a code that did not scan or a destination that was encoded incorrectly.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. If you are a consumer, these Terms do not affect your statutory rights.
16.Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, liabilities and reasonable costs arising out of your use of the Site, your breach of these Terms, or the content you chose to encode — including any claim that a code you published was deceptive or infringed the rights of another person.
17.Copyright complaints
We respond to properly made notices of alleged copyright infringement. Because we host no user library and never receive Your Content, the material we can act on is limited to what we ourselves publish. Our DMCA and Copyright Policy explains what belongs here, what does not, and the notice and counter-notice procedure in full.
Copyright notices: contact@upfrog.online.
18.Changes to the service and to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service changes or as the law requires. The date shown at the top of this page reflects the current version, and continuing to use the Site after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
We may also change, suspend or withdraw any part of the Site at any time. Codes you have already downloaded are unaffected by any of this: they are static files that do not depend on this Site continuing to exist.
19.Termination
We may restrict or withdraw access to the Site, in whole or in part, at any time and for any reason, including breach of these Terms.
Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will do so, including those on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law.
20.International users
We make no representation that the Site or its content is appropriate or available for use in every location. If you access the Site from elsewhere, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with your local law.
21.Miscellaneous
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a transfer of the Site.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Site.
