Disclaimer
We test our claims and publish the numbers. That is still not a promise about your printer, your material, or your customer's phone.

1.General information only
Everything on https://upfrog.online — the guides, the diagrams, the warnings shown in the editor and the QR codes the tool produces — is provided for general information and practical guidance.
We work to keep it accurate and we correct mistakes when we find them, but we make no representation or warranty of any kind, express or implied, as to completeness, accuracy, reliability or suitability for your particular purpose. Any reliance you place on it is at your own risk.
By using the Site you accept the terms of this disclaimer.
2.We cannot guarantee that a code will scan
This is the disclaimer that actually matters for a QR code generator, so it gets its own section rather than a clause buried in a list.
Whether a QR code scans depends on a chain of factors we can neither see nor control: the printer and the ink, the paper or substrate, lamination and gloss, ambient lighting, the distance and angle it is scanned from, the camera and age of the scanning device, and the design choices you made.
Our published guidance comes from real measurements rather than opinion, but those measurements have clear limits:
- We decode rendered image files, not printed material. We cannot measure ink spread, glare, curvature, folding or wear.
- We test with one independent decoder. Phone camera apps are generally more tolerant, so a design we flag as risky may still work for you — and one that passed our tests could still fail on unusual hardware.
- Our results describe the conditions we tested, not every condition that exists in the world.
- Scanning software changes over time. A result that held when we measured it may not hold on a future device.
Always test a real sample, at final size, on the final material, in the lighting where it will live, before committing anything to a print run.
3.You are responsible for what you encode
The generator encodes whatever you give it. It does not check whether a destination is safe, whether a payment address is correct, whether a Wi-Fi password should be shared, or whether personal data may lawfully be published.
Because the content never reaches us, we cannot review it even in principle. Some errors here are unrecoverable: a mistyped cryptocurrency address encoded into a printed code cannot be corrected, and funds sent to it are gone. Verify destinations and payment addresses against their source before publishing.
4.Not professional advice
Nothing on this Site is professional advice of any kind — legal, financial, tax, data-protection, medical or security.
In particular, we are not advising you on whether personal data you place into a contact code may lawfully be published, on the regulatory treatment of any payment code, on whether a code satisfies a labelling requirement, or on the security of any destination you choose to link to.
Where any of that matters, take advice from someone qualified in your jurisdiction. Our guides are engineering notes written by people who test QR codes, not by lawyers.
5.Regulatory and compliance uses
QR codes are increasingly used to carry information that a regulator requires to be available — extended ingredient lists, allergen detail, multilingual instructions, disposal guidance, product authenticity.
If you are using a code for that purpose, its reliability becomes a compliance matter rather than a marketing one, and this disclaimer applies with full force: we do not warrant that any code will remain scannable, and we accept no liability for a compliance failure arising from one that does not.
We would also strongly encourage a static code pointing at a domain you control, rather than anything that depends on a third-party service continuing to operate.
6.Our testing results
Where we publish a measured result — that a design decoded at a certain number of resolutions, or that a shape combination failed — that measurement genuinely happened and the method is documented on our editorial page.
It remains a measurement of a specific thing under specific conditions. It is evidence, not a guarantee, and it should inform your own testing rather than replace it.
7.External links
The Site links to specifications, standards bodies, documentation and other third-party resources for reference. We do not control those sites and assume no responsibility for their content, accuracy, legality, availability or practices.
The inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement. Visiting third-party sites is done at your own risk and is governed by their own terms.
8.Files you download
Image files produced by the generator are created in your browser from the content you supplied. We make reasonable efforts to ensure the tool behaves correctly, but we do not warrant that any file is free of defects.
You remain responsible for the security of your own device and for checking any file before use.
9.Advertising disclosure
The Site may carry advertising, including through Google AdSense, to cover its running costs. Where advertising is shown it is visually distinct from our writing, and it is never placed inside the generator's controls.
We do not control, endorse or take responsibility for the products, services or claims made in third-party advertisements. Any dealings you have with an advertiser are solely between you and that advertiser.
We take no sponsorship and run no affiliate links in our guides. Where we compare ourselves unfavourably to a paid service, that is our genuine assessment and we earn nothing either way. Our Privacy Policy explains how advertising cookies and data are handled.
10.Errors and omissions
Despite our efforts, this Site may contain typographical errors, inaccuracies or omissions. We reserve the right to correct them and to change or update content at any time without notice, and we do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted or error-free.
If you find something wrong — especially a code that behaves differently on your hardware than our guidance predicts — please tell us at contact@upfrog.online. That is exactly the data we cannot generate ourselves, and it changes what we publish.
11.Fair use and quotation
Our guides quote briefly from published specifications and standards for the purposes of commentary, criticism, research and education, with attribution and links to the source. We believe this constitutes fair use under 17 U.S.C. § 107 and fair dealing under comparable provisions elsewhere.
If you hold rights in material we have quoted and believe our use exceeds that, please contact us at contact@upfrog.online or see our Copyright & DMCA Policy.
12.Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither we nor our operators and contributors accept liability for any loss or damage — including indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive loss — arising out of or in connection with your access to, use of, or inability to use the Site or anything on it.
This expressly includes reprinting costs and commercial losses arising from a code that did not scan. The Site and all output are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Please read this alongside the limitation of liability in our Terms of Service, and note that nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13.Changes to this disclaimer
We may update this disclaimer to reflect changes to the Site or to applicable law. When we make material changes we will post the revised version on this page and update the date shown at the top. Continued use after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of it.
