Extension
Encode the page you are on, without leaving it
A small companion extension for Chrome, Edge and Firefox that wraps the same renderer you see on this site.
One click, current tab
The extension reads the URL of the active tab and renders a code straight in the popup. Right-click a link or image to encode that instead.
Keyboard shortcut
Bind a shortcut in your browser's extension settings and generate a code without touching the mouse.
No page access
It only needs the URL of the tab you explicitly invoke it on. Nothing is sent anywhere — encoding happens in the popup.
Why a browser extension at all
Most QR codes people make are for a page they are already looking at — a menu, a form, a product listing, a document they want to open on a phone. The web version handles that perfectly well, but it means copying a URL, switching tabs and pasting.
An extension removes those three steps. It also removes a common error: URLs copied by hand lose their scheme surprisingly often, and a code containing example.com rather than https://example.com is a text code, not a link. Reading the URL directly from the tab avoids that entirely.
What it will not do
It will not read the content of pages you visit, track your browsing, or send anything to us. It needs the URL of the tab you explicitly invoke it on, and nothing else. The encoding runs inside the popup using the same code as the website, which never transmits what you encode.
It will also not offer dynamic codes or scan tracking, for the same reason the website does not: both require a redirect service that has to keep running forever.
Until it ships
The web generator does everything the extension will, with two extra clicks. If you make codes often, a browser bookmark to the generator is the practical substitute — it always opens clean, because we deliberately do not persist your last design between sessions.
If you need this programmatically rather than by hand, the HTTP API already covers it. One GET request with a URL returns a finished SVG, which is enough to script bulk generation from a spreadsheet or wire code creation into your own tooling.

This page describes the planned extension for this build. Until it ships, the fastest path is a browser bookmark to the generator — the design settings you last used are not stored, so it always opens clean.
